Is there a way to increase the new email alert display time?

Jan 29, 2014 at 6:49 PM
There's a way to increase the time a standard Windows 8 alert is displayed. However, we're not seeing a way to adjust this add-in's display time. Our general sense is that it's a few seconds too short vs. the standard alerts. It doesn't seem to give you enough time to break focus on your primary task, skim the message, and then move your mouse to the alert to take action in time before it disappears.

Does anyone know if there's a configuration setting that can be modified?

There's no such setting to be customized "on the fly", you'll have to recompile the code after changing the value of a setting under the Settings.settings file called DisplayTimeOut which is currently set to 6000 milliseconds.

Thanks for the confirmation and pointer to the setting in the code.

Note that we time it at about 3000 milliseconds from a user experience standpoint.

FYI, the latest preview version contains a configurable setting for the display time out of email alerts. :-)

You may want to download it here:

Thank you!
